New Years Resolutions

Saturday, December 31, 2011

I've never really been one to participate in making New Years Resolutions, but this year I have had a lot of experiences and discovered so many new things that I can't help but want to make some changes in my life and in the lives of others around me.

I've been very blessed with a good family, caring parents that would do anything for me and friends that I am lucky to have in my life. We look out for each other and it seems to have become a theme for this past year. Someone finds out important information on something and immediately the information is shared amongst friends and family to try and help.

This got me really thinking about how just one person can effect thousands. I have always been considered to be a very social person and by being involved with the general public with my line of work, I talk to people all over the world about every topic under the sun. It comes very easy for me.

The creation of Twitter however has allowed many people to be able to voice their opinions, ideas, their art, promote business and even waste lots of time being silly all from the comfort of their couch. I'm guilty as charged! Trust me, I've wasted many hours. LOL

But the thought of taking something so powerful and using it to promote healthier lives, save animals in need of shelter, or raise money for just causes is something we need more of in our world today. There are far too many negative things going on out there. I feel obligated to help spread some good news every once in awhile.

I know that I sometimes I get caught up in trying to "save the world" one tweet at a time by being the watch dog and informant for corrupt operations trying to take advantage of us or hurt us.

The truth is, there ARE selfish people and corporations out there trying to raise their bottom line by poisoning the food we eat, making people slightly sick so that they need medications, destroying our natural resources all for the sake of them making more money. They just don't care about people anymore. It's hard for me to sit and remain quiet about it all.

That really was the inspiration for this blog. This is the place that I've created for people who CHOOSE to know more about these topics can come and learn more. By making my fellow man aware about things going in the world today that they might not know about, I feel like I am doing a service to them. Which brings me to my resolutions:

  • To continue learning about living a healthy life and grow to be over 100 years old.

  • To share the wealth of my findings with everyone that will listen.

  • To help others more often.

  • To be more positive and stop complaining.

  • To be more thankful about the things I do have and not worry about the things that I don't.

  • To be more active and do more things. Hiking, Biking, Camping etc.

  • To start enjoying my life more.

These may not seem like the type of new years resolutions you were expecting, but I can assure you that results will come from them if every goal is followed. I have noticed that in the past when I have concentrated on these things that I have been my absolute happiest.

I'm not a big reader at all, but I have listened to quite a few audio books. Two years ago Diana had me listen to the book "The Secret", which I know many of you have already read. I wasn't exactly sure what to excpect from it, but by the time it had finished the message was clear to me. You are what you think you are. Your mind is capable of creating anything you will it to create.

If you haven't read this book, I would highly recommend it. It's very inspirational and will probably change your outlook of life. There is also a second book out by the same author that I think is even better called "The Power" It's kind of like a more detailed look into the ideas behind The Secret.

Books like these and others like them are good at helping you realize that you are in charge of your life, your wealth and your happiness. I have found these messages to be very true in my life and so now I am going to try harder to make sure that I keep myself in check. I've been going back to my old ways of worrying and complaining and I've been miserable lately because of it.

If you're not happy with your life right now, it's nobody's fault but your own and you have the ability to change it. Make changes in your life and be happier. It's your life. You're in charge :)

Happy New Year everyone!

What Is Alkaline Water?

Friday, December 30, 2011

If you happen to follow me on Twitter @DjInfernoLV, then you have heard me mention alkaline water more than once or twice. Let me first explain how I came to find out about alkaline water and its amazing healing properties.

For the longest time our family paid the outrageous fees that bottled water companies charge to have water home delivered to our door. After a year or so we tried to save a few dollars by filling up a half dozen 3 gallon containers once a week at the local filtered water station. It became quite a chore and to be honest it was a real pain in the butt.

So we tried out a Zero water pitcher. (Same as a Britta) You fill it with tap water and it filters out all the bad stuff and you're left with sparkling clean water. That much is true. What they dont tell you is that its only good for 20 gallons, then you need a new filter! What?? That's like a dollar per gallon!

Zero water gives you a little meter that tells you how many dissolved solids are in your water on a scale of 0 ppm to 500 ppm (Parts Per Million). 500 ppm is deemed by the EPA as not safe to drink.

Las Vegas tap water scored a 487 ppm!

The Zero water system worked perfectly. It took the Las Vegas tap water that was 487 ppm and made the first pitcher of water at .000 ppm. But after 20 pitchers the filter was only able to maintain .07 ppm and then .10 ppm. So you'd have to keep buying filters if you want clean water. Not cool and very expensive!

Next came the possibility of us buying an RO (Reverse Osmosis) system for our entire house. It was close to $5,000 and we just didn't have the money to do it. Damn! It seemed like anything we looked at was going to be a long term investment. After buying a RO system you still have to replace the filters every certain amount of gallons and depending how bad your city water is, that amount almost doubles!

We were stuck. We continued buying filtered water from what I called "The Well". Making trips back and forth with our water jugs every week. Booo! Now I know how Jack & Jill felt going up the hill....

My wife Diana continued researching about all the different types of complete home water filters, systems etc and in doing so learned a little about alkaline or "ionized" water. She read many claims that by drinking alkaline water a persons immune system could benefit greatly.

Crazy as it may sound and like most random things in life, Diana was out walking our dogs sometime in March and happened to run into a nice Asian man who went out of his way to introduce himself and offer our dogs some of his water... alkaline water! (Don't worry, he wasn't a creeper or anything)

He asked her if she had ever heard of alkaline water. She replied, "Yes actually..." and he continued to explain that he sold alkaline water machines to Veterinarian clinics all over Vegas. He explained that alkaline water is considered "healing" water and most that most vets use it to help speed the healing process after surgeries to many of the animals.

He also told her that most hospitals in Japan have been using alkaline water machines for their patients for many years. She was intrigued and wanted to know more so she contacted him and he even came to our home to give us a demonstration. We were both very impressed with his demonstration.

Scientific Stuff:

What makes alkaline water different from regular water is the process in which it's made.  Regular tap water flows over surgical grade platinum plates and when electricity is applied the H2o separates into two separate new ions,  hydronium, H3O+ (which is acidic) and the other, hydroxide, OH (alkaline).

In other words:
The water separates into two different streams. One is acidic and the other is alkaline.

Why is this important and how does it help your body?

The PH scale goes from 1 to 14.     7 is neutral.

Water produced above neutral is negatively charged Hydroxyl. These negatively charged ions travel thoughout your body and attract free radicals or toxins. These free radicals are then removed from your body through your urine.

The more alkaline water you drink, the more free radicals get removed and the better you feel. By removing more toxins and flushing your system out regularly you tend to feel more energetic and able to sleep better. That's why hospitals use this water because it speeds healing and helps immune systems tremendously.

Alkaline water created by water ionizers is not a new technology. Using electrolysis to create negative and positively charged ions was originally invented by Russian scientists over 50 years ago. It was the Japanese however who became the first to perfect this process by producing the first water ionizer machines in the 1980′s to be used in hospitals.

The food we eat and the drinks we drink all have a value on the PH scale. The blood in our bodies is said to be slightly alkaline at 7.365 which is just above neutral. Being slightly alkaline our bodies are able to fight off sickness and disease.

When we consume food and beverages like soda, coffee, chocolate, cheese and other things that are low on the PH scale our bodies become very acidic. This usually results in sickness and disease. Our immune system is weakened and we tend to get sick very easily.

I know this first hand because looking back to when I was drinking at least 2 liters or more of Diet Coke everyday and eating just about everything that is on the acidic side of the chart below.... I was sick all the time.

My conclusion is that this is not a theory but a fact. If you eat and drink the things low on this list and subject your body to acidic foods and drinks everyday you most likely will not be feeling well or sick all the time.

Quitting soda was the best thing I ever did. Trying to eat more organic foods like fruits and vegetables seemed to help a lot. Changing my water was next. Baby steps...

We ended up buying a Kangen water machine in May of 2011. It was expensive but worth every penny. At the time we were sold on buying it but had no idea how we were going to pay for it.

If it hadn't been for the financing that Enagic (Kangen) offers to practically everybody, regardless of their credit,  we never would have been able to get it. I'm so glad we did. Seriously though, they WILL finance anyone!

Our entire family has been drinking this water daily since the day we got it and no one has been sick since. No one has been to the doctor either. We are all very healthy and I believe that the alkaline water has a lot to do with it. I'm glad we bought it. You couldn't steal it from me if you tried.

Apparently the water must be doing something because several of our friends come over every few days to fill up their water jugs and have been for the past few months.  I don't think they would bother making the trip if they didn't notice a difference. Now they're the ones that are "going to the well" hahaha

There are quite a few more details about the science of what alkaline water does to your body, how it helps remove toxins and hydrates you better than regular water can, but it's just too much information to put in one blog entry.

If you are suffering with health issues like acid reflux, diabetes or a list of other ailments and think that this machine could benefit you and you want to know more, I would be more than happy to give you more information about it and help you figure out how to get a machine for yourself or your family.

Go to this website:    Sign up for the free E-Book. It will be emailed back to you immediately.

It explains even more details about these machines. Be sure to click on the videos tab and watch the demo on all the different waters it makes plus more.

You can even email me personally if you want.

Hopefully this blog has at least answered a few questions as to what alkaline water is and what it can do to help your body fight sickness and disease. It has definitely proved itself to me and my family.

FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe'spersonal mission to regain his health.

SweetMisery: A Poisoned World

Excellent documentary showing how dangerous artificialsweetner Aspartame is. From its history, to its effects this video is enough toshock anyone into really looking at there food labels next time they shop.Aspartame is a toxic food that came into the world as an investment by DonaldRumsfeld, while ignoring the deadly effects the tests showed. Take a good lookat this video, it could save lives.

Fed Up

Available on NetFlix
About 70% of the food we eat contains genetically modified ingredients and is not labeled. The biotechnology industry is spending $50 million a year to convince us that this technology is our only hope for feeding the world and saving the environment. Family farmers are disappearing at an astonishing rate as people continue to go hungry both here and abroad.

Forks Over Knives

Available on NetFlix
Thefeature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if notall, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or evenreversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods.

King Corn

Available on NetFlix
King Corn is a feature documentary abouttwo friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives ourfast-food nation. In King Corn, Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends fromcollege on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their foodcomes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America'smost-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when theytry to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raisestroubling questions about how we eat-and how we farm.An entertaining documentary which raises a lot of good questions.  One ofthe biggest, to me, “Why no cameras in the high-fructose corn syrupmanufacturing plant????”

And this is the documentary that will enlighten you on the topic of Geoengineering (Chemtrails) An excellent movie.

What in theWorld Are They Spraying?

Bynow everyone has seen crisscrossing streaks of white clouds trailing behind jetaircraft, stretching from horizon to horizon, eventually turning the sky into amurky haze. Our innate intelligence tells us these are not mere vapor trailsfrom jet engines, but no one yet has probed the questions: who is doingthis and why. With the release of this video, all of that has changed. Here is the story of a rapidly developing industry called geo-engineering,driven by scientists, corporations, and governments intent on changing globalclimate, controlling the weather, and altering the chemical composition of soiland water all supposedly for the betterment of mankind. Although officialsinsist that these programs are only in the discussion phase, evidence isabundant that they have been underway since about 1990 and the effect has beendevastating to crops, wildlife, and human health. We are being sprayed withtoxic substances without our consent and, to add insult to injury, they arelying to us about it. Do not watch this documentary if you have high bloodpressure.

These films help you to understand a little better about the situation our nation is facing with cancer, illnesses and disease. It also shows how unhealthy we are as Americans. You are what you eat and THAT is a FACT.

As I watch more documentaries I will post them for you to share the wealth of information :)

Vitamins... Do they even help?

Posted: Monday, December 12, 2011

After successfully quitting Diet Coke and all soda pop for that matter I have been trying out all kinds of new healthy products this past year to try and help my body instead of hurting it. My main goal was to find a way to get the lacking nutrition my body needed on a daily basis.

Like most I started researching the key vitamins and minerals that we all need to have healthy bodies and I hit my local GNC to find some good vitamins to take every morning. I spent a small fortune!
That probably lasted about 3 months and I didn't really notice much of a difference.

Diana, my wife, had also been doing extensive research as well, watching countless videos, documentaries on health and reading books. (I don't read that much... but I do give her my undivided attention when it comes to something she has discovered. She's my research team.)

I had heard it many times before and came across it several times myself that most vitamins and supplements that we buy from the store don't help us that much because only a small percentage of them actually absorb into our bodies and is used. Not to mention that MANY vitamins are not even organic trace minerals!! That's super important. That's what your body is able to absorb naturally... not synthetic man made chemicals! I just wasted a bunch of money :(

Diana was determined to get our entire family healthy and continued to research all the options. She pointed out a few facts that she had uncovered about vitamins and minerals that really got my attention:

This really made sense to me because I had just spent hundreds of dollars trying to promote a healthier lifestyle for myself by taking vitamins and supplements each morning and I didn't notice even the slightest bit of difference. I was totally discouraged.

Somehow along the way after searching through all the diets, plans and programs that seem to flood the internet, Diana came across Isagenix. After doing quite a bit of research, she invited a consultant over to our house and he made his pitch.

I was completely not interested. Although his presentation was pretty convincing and the facts and promises he made of the products sounded delightful... I was skeptical.

Diana said "We're doing it ok?"

"Uhhhmmmm.... ok?" I said. lol

Hahaha. That's exactly how it went too. That was the end of this summer 2011. I think it was August. A box of isagenix products came to our house and Diana instructed everyone that instead of taking vitamins (which do practically nothing for you...) that we should make these IsaLean Shakes in the mornings as our replacement for breakfast.

I usually don't eat breakfast anyways... That's also not a good thing I later found out. So... willing to try it out, I began making these isagenix shakes every morning. I've been taking them ever since. And I'm glad I did.

After just a couple weeks of adding this "shake" thing to my daily regimen, I have noticed a huge difference in how I feel. I honestly feel "good" throughout the day. So I started asking questions.... "What the heck are in these shakes Diana?" LOL

Turns out that the IsaLean Shake is LOADED with trace vitamins, amino acids, minerals and live enzymes. (You are supposed to drink them within 10 minutes after making them for the most absorption)  Hmmmm.... I wanted to know more. I mean I AM a guinea pig after all. Tell me more about what's in these shakes I'm drinking everyday.

Ok, so I've been on the IsaLean Shakes since August or so and to be honest, You couldn't stop me from making them every morning. I love the way I feel. They obviously are doing me good. Not to mention if you replace 2 meals with these you're most likely gonna start dropping a few pounds. That doesn't mean you get to eat a 2,000 calorie meal in between!!!

But as far as a daily "do something good for your body" type of change... I truly believe I made a good decision. FINALLY!! LOL (Actually, it was Diana's decision)

So... after months of feeling good about the shakes I decided to see what else does Isagenix have to offer. I even watched some of their promo videos for other products like the 9-Day cleanse as well as Product B. (I will later reveal some of the results of Product B sometime in January. The "guinea pig" is at work again!)

If you want to make some changes in how your body feels, flood it with healthy trace vitamins, minerals and enzymes everyday. You'll notice a difference.

How can I possibly quit drinking soda?

Posted: Sunday, December 11, 2011

Is it really bad for me? I can’t seem to quit? How hard is it? Will I get headaches? Will I lose weight? What will I drink in place of my soda?

If you’re like most people I know, you are addicted to one of these products above. You might even be a Mountain Dew person or maybe Dr Pepper. It doesn’t matter really… you have an addiction that seems nearly impossible quit.

Every time you stop to get gas, eat food at a restaurant, walk to your class at school… It’s right there in your face and you don’t say no. It’s too easy. And besides, it tastes GREAT!

For me it was always Diet Coke. I couldn’t go a day without it. I was only about 11 or 12 when I tried it. Me and Mom were having lunch at Jack in the box together. She always drank Diet Coke. I asked her why? Why Diet Coke? She said “Because there’s no calories and I’m trying to watch my weight etc”. Then I asked her, “Yeah, but how does it taste?” It was my mistake for tasting it and hers for offering it I guess… LOL

It wasn’t until around 2008 that my attention was grabbed by a documentary that my wife was watching about aspartame. No clue what aspartame even was then.

Here’s a link to watch it free on youtube now:

My wife calmly explained to me that the sweetener used in all diet sodas contain a form of this product.

I sat on the edge of my bed and began listening to all the people who were having the exact same symptoms as me and WORSE!! The common link to us all: Aspartame.

Notice the small warning label on most diet sodas, sweeteners, Crystal Light and even sugar free chewing gum:  “PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE”

I don’t know why this jarred my attention so much but it really got me thinking. I’ve been poisoning myself for 25 years without even knowing it. Game over. I’m out. No more soda. I’m done.

Haha…. So I thought anyways. It’s a lot like the mafia… you don’t just “Get out”. I tried several times quitting cold turkey and always ended up right back where I started. I could go a month but that was about it. “Why can’t I quit you!!!!”

This went on for most of 2008. On and off…. on and back off again. Friends and family making fun, jokes.. “Hey Billy, are drinking soda this week or no?…” Thanks guys. I love you too. It was rough. Cause I loved soda soooo much.

Tired of failing I decided to try the slow weening method. I told myself first and foremost ” Self….. we don’t want the poison right? We gotta stop drinking the poison OK?” “But it tastes so good!!!”
Here was my plan: We’re not “quitting” soda… we’re limiting it to smaller amounts this month. Instead of two giant 64 ounce cups today…. only 1.

A month passed and I initiated the next big step… only 1 can of Diet Coke per day or else!!! It wasn’t really that bad at all. In fact I was prepared for the next step already in my mind. It was working! And…. no caffeine headaches like before when I tried quitting cold turkey.

Along came month 3, which came quicker than I had realized… Only 1 can of soda every other day. My plan was to continue this for an entire month.

But I got excited… only 2 weeks later I only had an occasional soda with my lunches or dinner eating out etc) This phase lasted awhile. A huge improvement I felt. Eventually I decided that I was ready. No more soda.

It was the holidays and while visiting my family in California, I made my mom watch the documentary. She was horrified to learn about aspartame and all the years we had been poisoning ourselves.

I made a commitment to my Mom on Thanksgiving 2009.Together we vowed to never drink another Diet soda. To this day, her and I have successfully kicked the Diet Soda monkey.

And I bet you’re thinking… Well… I don’t drink “Diet” sodas.. hahaha So I’m good right?
No, you’re not. I later learned that the acid levels of regular soda: Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Mountain Dew and even Sprite are highly acidic!!!! They all have a PH level of between 2.8 - 3.5 as shown on this chart below.

Your body has to remain slightly alkaline to fight off sickness etc. Neutral is a PH level of 7. You can see that even Starbucks is at a 5.5 a little better than soda, but still acidic.

The goal is to get your body’s PH level up so you can feel good all the time. Every time you drink a soda you’re dragging your body’s PH level as low as it can go. This probably explains why I felt tired all the time. Not to mention getting sick really easily. Regular Coke is the MOST acidic!! 2.8 PH WOW!

The reason I’m sharing this personal story with you is because I know that many of you are in the same boat and want to quit soda. The first step is wanting too. If you don’t want to… you won’t. Plain and simple.

I’m glad that I did and I would never go back now because of the way that i feel. Aside from no more soda… there is a whole list of things that I have come to realize that make a difference in how I feel. I’ve made a lot of changes and with change comes sacrifice. But the sacrifice for feeling great is not even a sacrifice in my eyes.

I’ve also been made fun of by my friends for breaking the mold, going a different way, trying new things to improve my life and that’s OK…. It’s my life and I’m happy about it :)

I will continue to help others that want to feel better by answering questions and sharing my experiences as they happen. I don’t claim to know everything, but I learn something everyday and will continue to pass on what I find out.

I hope that this entry has helped someone, somewhere.
